How did you two meet?
“One February day in Starkville, Mississippi, my friends and I decided to jump into a snowball fight on our way to class. In between the dorms Oak and Magnolia, several students had already started tossing snowballs around. I didn’t know it then, but the guy I would want to spend the rest of my life with was just on the other side of the courtyard. Matthew and I weren’t able to meet that day, but with a little help from our friends we were finally introduced a few days later. Matthew and I officially got the chance to meet one night during an event at the Sigma Phi Epsilon house. By the end of the night, we had talked abut everything from where we called home, what we were studying, and all of the adventures we had experience so far as freshmen. As I left the Sig Ep house, I hoped that we would see each other again.
I didn’t have to wait too long for an opportunity because the very next day I got a message from Matthew. I was thrilled! After a couple of weeks, Matthew took me on our very first date. We spent Valentine’s Day evening chatting over dinner and enjoying a movie. After Matthew parked his car in front of my dorm, he came around to open my car door. Matthew then surprised me with the sweetest Valentine’s Day card asking me to be his girlfriend. I happily said yes!”
How did Matthew propose?!
“Matthew and I spent just over two and a half wonderful years dating. During those two years, we carried each other on the tough days, laughed at countless silly moments, and celebrated each day we were given. On August 16th, Matthew and I were sitting at Pinelake for church. Before the service started, we were talking about where we wanted to eat lunch. Matthew said before we went to eat we had to run an errand first. When I asked him what the errand was, he was hesitant to tell me. After some convincing, he told me that one of his pledge brothers was going to propose to one of my friends, and he had to go run by the Chapel of Memories so we could help him set things up. After church we went over to the Chapel of Memories and, to my surprise, no one was in there. I was expecting to have to tell people to leave. I walked towards the front of the chapel and asked Matthew what his friend wanted us to set up. As I was getting closer to the front of the chapel, I noticed an open Bible and a rose. I told Matthew, ‘It looks like some things are already set up. A verse is highlighted and everything!’ He asked what the verse said. I knelt down and read the verse aloud. As soon as I finished reading the verse, our song started playing over the chapel. Once our song started playing, I realized that I had been tricked! Matthew took my hands while we stood on the altar and said many sweet things that I honestly can’t completely remember! Then, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!”
Recently, Caroline and Matthew were united as one on a beautiful day that began at Old Capitol Inn. Let me just say that I LOVE photographing the bride’s details as I know that she carefully chooses each one! From Old Captiol Inn, Caroline and Matthew made the short drive to Fondren Church, located in Jackson, Mississippi, to recite their vows to one another. After the sweet wedding ceremony, the couple then returned to Old Capitol Inn to celebrate with all their guests at their fun reception!
Caroline was surrounded by her very best friends who supported her with smiles and laughs on this very important day!
Caroline, there are no words, girl! You are simply gorgeous! xoxo
Matthew and Caroline opted to not see each other prior to the Ceremony, so they exchanged gifts while hidden behind the door!
