Laura Elizabeth & Steven’s Summertime Engagement at Chapel of the Cross & the Cypress Trees
There’s something so special about summertime love—the kind that feels timeless and deeply rooted. Laura Elizabeth & Steven’s engagement session was exactly that. From the historic beauty of Chapel of the Cross Church (which is where their love began) to the quiet strength of Laura Elizabeth’s grandfather’s cypress trees, every part of their session felt intentional and meaningful.
We began the evening at the Chapel of the Cross in Madison, Mississippi. The light was soft and golden, casting the most romantic glow on the church’s timeless brick walls and steeple. Laura Elizabeth looked effortlessly radiant in a soft, white summer dress, and Steven couldn’t stop smiling at her. The way they moved together—gentle, easy, and completely at home—made my job as a photographer an absolute joy. The chapel’s peaceful grounds gave us a mix of elegant and cozy moments that truly reflected who they are as a couple.
But the most touching part of the session came when we traveled to a special place that holds deep meaning for Laura Elizabeth and her family—her grandfather’s cypress trees. Nestled quietly on family land near the lake, these trees were planted by her grandfather years ago, and now stand tall and strong, just like the legacy of love behind them. There, among the trees, Laura Elizabeth & Steven shared quiet moments & laughter. It felt like time slowed down. It was a place of roots—where past, present, and future met.
These two are the kind of couple who remind you that love doesn’t have to be flashy to be beautiful. Sometimes, it’s found in honoring your story, showing up with your whole heart, and choosing to walk through life side by side. Below are a few of my favorites from their engagement session!
Laura Elizabeth & Steven—thank you for letting me be part of such a special chapter. Your love is already strong and full of grace. I can’t wait for your wedding day and all the beauty that’s still to come. xoxo
