Just a few weeks ago (August 2016), an incredible amount of rainfall fell in the state of Louisiana which resulted in catastrophic flooding that submerged thousands of houses and businesses. This past weekend, I had the privilege of going to assist some of these devastated areas. I traveled down with Osyka Baptist Church, located in Southern MS, and we worked all day to help Comite Baptist Church to clean out EVERYTHING. Everything was ruined. Complete devastation.
We also handed out lunch plates and fed around 200 people a special homemade jambalaya…talk about delicious! But most importantly, we attempted to give hope to people in their time of need. We traveled through surrounding neighborhoods handing out food and although we saw ‘looters’ taking advantage of others ‘ruined treasures’, so many people were blessed. But I must say, theres a huge possibility that I left Louisiana feeling that I actually received the blessing.
One lady said that we came ‘in her time of need’ with the food…God was working & answering our prayers. We were able to stand right in her driveway & pray with her. Tracey, you still have our prayers!
Men & women are going to Louisiana every day to assist cleanup and to take food & water to those in need.
If you’d like to donate directly to help, feel free to send your donation to: Osyka Baptist Church, P.O. Box 152, Osyka, Mississippi 39657.
Here are some of the photos from the day.
Wood pews filled this large sanctuary and every single pew was ruined. One by one, they were cut in half and carried to the street. L
