Engaged: Sarah + John
Recently, I had the opportunity to spend ample time with Sarah and John during their engagement session.
We had a blast together while roaming around Pelahatchie and searching for the perfect backdrops for their photos. Their smiles light up a room, and they are fun loving, kind, and just a pure joy to be around. I hope you enjoy their photos and by the way: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN!!
How did you two meet?
“In July 2004, I began working at Brandon Discount Drugs because I had just turned 15 and really wanted a job. John had been working there for a few years already. I still remember meeting/seeing John for the first time. I had only been working there for a few days and still had not met him because he was in school. I was looking at the diabetic syringes trying to figure out what a customer was asking for, he walked into the store, literally stood in front of me while I was bent down, and said ‘hey, I’m John’. I thought he was so incredibly cute; then I quickly found out that he had a girlfriend and that he was 7 years older than I was. Um, can you say illegal? Hahaha! We have been friends ever since that time! We worked with each other for five years before we started dating. We started dating on August 8, 2009, and he proposed July 1, 2015. We were about to hit the six year dating mark when he proposed!”
Where was your first date?
“Our first “official” date was to Atlantis Grill in Madison. John rented a limo to come pick us up at my parents’ house. We went to eat in the wine room at Atlantis Grill, then came back to my parents’ house. John had also made me a CD of all the songs that made him think of me! So sweet! Side note: Our first “official” date was a little after we had actually started dating.”
How did John propose?
“We were in Orlando for some friend’s wedding. His dad and step-mom live right outside of Orlando, in Lake Mary, so we stayed with them all week. After our friend’s wedding on Tuesday, we all four went to Daytona Beach that Wednesday and that’s where he popped the question! He proposed the second we stepped foot in the sand because he didn’t want to do it in front of everyone on the beach, by the water, because he was so nervous. It was absolutely perfect because it was so us! It was also special to have his dad and step-mom there to see everything and take pictures.”
What are your favorite things to do together?
“We love watching movies at home or at the movie theater…and TV shows. John is kind of nerdy 😉 and that has somewhat rubbed off on me; therefore we like to play video games, Magic the Gathering cards, and World of Warcraft together. We also love playing disc golf, going swimming, traveling, concerts… One of my personal favorite things we do together is simply just riding around and singing at the top of our lungs!”
Tell me a funny story about yourselves:
“One of the first times I went to John’s parents’ house, we watched a movie in their movie room. It wasn’t a scary movie, but suspenseful. When the movie was over, the hallway was dark, and I was asking John to turn the light on because I’m scared of the dark. Instead, he scared me. I turned and tried to run and ran smack into the wall. My glasses went crooked, I had tears in my eyes, and we thought I might have broken my nose. All John could do was laugh while asking if I was okay! It was so embarrassing and painful, but it was hilarious!”
What are your favorite TV shows to watch together?
“The Blacklist, Person of Interest, Big Bang Theory, Scorpion, The Royals.”
